🌿 Your Skin Isn’t the Problem It’s the Messenger

August 11, 2025•3 min read

Woman in her 50s sitting peacefully in natural light, reflecting on her skin healing journey from granuloma annulare using a natural gut-first approach.

I didn’t ask for this.
I didn’t ask for the strange red rings on my skin, the flare-ups that seemed to have no cause, the frustration of feeling like my body was turning against me.

And I definitely didn’t ask for the blank stares from doctors or the “just try this cream” suggestions when nothing ever got to the root of it.

The condition? Granuloma annulare.
Not eczema. Not psoriasis. Just a mystery diagnosis with no clear cause and no real plan beyond “wait it out.”

And that wasn’t good enough for me.

For a long time, I kept it quiet.
I didn’t know how to explain it. I didn’t want to show it.
But most of all, I didn’t want to pretend I was okay while constantly trying to figure out what my skin was trying to tell me.

Because deep down, I knew this wasn’t just about skin.

There was something deeper going on and if I could just understand it, maybe I could finally feel like myself again.

The Real Shift

What changed everything wasn’t a magic supplement or a new cream.
It was a shift in how I saw my body.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped seeing my skin as the problem and started seeing it as a messenger.

That flare-up wasn’t just an annoyance.
It was a signal.
My skin was trying to speak for the rest of my body, especially my gut, my stress response, and my nervous system.

Once I began listening to those messages instead of ignoring or covering them up, everything started to shift.
Not instantly.
Not perfectly.
But steadily and naturally.

I Never Took the Prescription Path

I want to be clear about this: I didn’t go the prescription route.
No steroid creams. No immunosuppressants.
Not because I was better than anyone else because honestly, the temptation was there.
But something in me said
no that masking the symptoms wasn’t the same as healing the root.

And that no turned into a long road. It wasn’t easy.
But it led me to something I never expected clarity.

I learned to work with my body instead of fighting it.
To calm my nervous system.
To nourish my gut.
To stop expecting perfection and start supporting balance.

This Is the Message I Wish I’d Heard Sooner

If you’re reading this and your skin is flaring whether it’s eczema, granuloma annulare, or something doctors still haven’t named please know this:

You’re not broken.
You’re not being punished.
And your skin is not your enemy.

It’s your ally.
Your skin is trying to show you where your body needs more love, not more pressure.

And yes, you can turn things around.
There’s no quick fix but there is a better path.
A calmer path. A gut-first path. One that doesn’t require you to hustle your way to healing.

Healing Isn’t Always Loud

Most of the progress I made happened quietly.
Little changes.
Consistent nourishment.
Trusting the process even when I didn’t see instant results.

I now help other women, especially those over 50 learn to listen to their bodies the way I had to learn to listen to mine.
We don’t suppress the signs. We support the systems.
We move from confusion to clarity not with overwhelm, but with rhythm.

If You’ve Been Fighting Your Skin…

I get it. I’ve been there. And I want you to hear this:

You don’t have to stay stuck.
You don’t have to do this alone.
And you don’t have to wait for your symptoms to get worse before they get better.

Start listening.
Start nourishing.
Start where you are.

Because your skin is speaking and when you learn how to listen, everything begins to shift.
